Insert Macron In Word For Mac

Apr 10, 2012  Whatever method you try, it is important that you verify that the method does the stuff you need - e.g. Displaying, printing etc. For example, many methods may only work in Word, or on Mac, or in Mac Word, or depending on what fonts are available. Typing a Macron One question that comes up a lot is how to generate a long mark or macron over vowels. It's 'exotic' enough to be outside the normal Western European character set for French, Spanish, German and so forth, so the usual rules do not apply. Available with macrons (-) over them. Is there a method of inserting a macron over any letter of the alphabet in a similar manner in which one would, say, type CTRL + ATL +' to insert an acute accent over 'e'?

In the Hawaiian language, the okina is a symbol that represents a glottal stop. The symbol is commonly used in Hawaiian words and is found in other Polynesian languages as well under different names. Although it is common to use the 'back-quote' key next to the '1' to represent an okina when typing, at larger font sizes it becomes obvious that the symbol is incorrect as the okina more closely resembles an upside-down apostrophe. In Microsoft Word, you can type an okina with a keyboard shortcut when using a Unicode font such as Calibri. Tips • Not all Windows fonts are able to display the okina correctly. Download file dmg. If your font displays an apostrophe instead of an okina when you type the numeric string '39,' try the string '96' instead or switch to a font with the word 'Unicode' in the name. • If the okina symbol is used twice in the same line of text, Microsoft Word automatically converts the second to an apostrophe.
